Park Central East is the third phase of Lendlease’s Elephant Park regeneration project, which sits on the site of the former Heygate Estate. The site is located on New Kent Road in Elephant & Castle. Park Central East is a plot that consists of 5 buildings containing 384 homes of a mix of different tenures, linked by a one storey podium containing residential amenity spaces and retail units. Park Central East has a 25-storey tower, which together with the adjoining Park Central North tower also by AHMM will define a gateway into elephant park. The building is constructed from Aluminium unitised façade panels. The design of the façade includes deep silver aluminium feature fins creating an overall framework within which sit indented pyramidal golden aluminium panels which will echo the cladding of the nearby Faraday Memorial. The top of the tower is lightened through the introduction of a crown. The midrise blocks are composed of four eight to twelve storey mansion block style buildings containing 196 homes. The buildings forms allow for setback levels at the top and includes a generous park facing podium garden measuring 28m x 47m. The buildings are formed with the combination of nine different brick patterns using yellow, red and dark brick type playfully combined. The brick pattern and colours are inspired by the local architectural palette. A shared residential amenity space is provided at Level 01 at the tower block. This includes a 24-hour concierge, lounge and café area, resident’s room and gym with links to the shared courtyard space.
