Situated on a prominent corner of the Nichols Hills Plaza, Osteria replaces a chain coffee shop with a neighbourhood Italian restaurant. The restaurant’s approach of blending authentic Italian techniques with local ingredients inspired AHMM’s design, where a palette of Italian materials is given an Oklahoma twist. Passing through a sequence of threshold moments, from the cypress screen of the patio to the bottle-lined lobby, the guest arrives in the comfortable, introverted interior with its focus on the bar and wood-fired pizza oven. The rich wood, leather and bronze finishes combine with the subdued lighting to evoke a space that feels both generous and intimate, elegant and homely.
