Located on the south side of Battersea Park Road, opposite the new Battersea Power Station development, Palmerston Court is a new high quality, highly sustainable development including student accommodation targeting PassivHaus accreditation and a new commercial building targeting BREEAM Outstanding.

Led by private student accommodation provider urbanest, the proposals for the redevelopment will provide modern accommodation for over 850 students in the heart of London and will be the first major PassivHaus student housing development in London; PassivHaus buildings have high insulation, high air-tightness and ventilation with heat recovery to significantly reduce operational carbon and improve occupant comfort and health.

Working closely with urbanest and Mace Construction, Palmerston Court will also be the first project that uses Mace's Low Carbon Concrete (LCC) construction system; a Cemfree concrete and low energy Electric Arc Furnace steel in cement-free concrete cassettes.

The development will become a gateway building at the northern edge of the wider masterplan for Battersea’s new Design and Tech quarter (BDTQ). With its bold colours and glazed terracotta facades the proposal aims to draw on the industrial heritage of the site. Comprised of three student buildings and a dedicated commercial building, the proposal steps in height and twists to open to key views with a unifying base around courtyard gardens. The new buildings range in height from 11 to 19 storeys to create a varied silhouette.

Significant improvements to the surrounding public realm and an improved connection and accessibility to Battersea Park Road will draw people into the site, becoming a catalyst for the regeneration of the wider BDTQ area.
