The Creamery project reinvents a dilapidated historical industrial building in Edmond, Oklahoma, as a restaurant and bar. Constructed as an ice house in 1909, the building underwent several alterations and additions now evident in the patchwork of brick and concrete block facades that remain. This new restaurant will build on the history of the structure, contrasting the robust industrial appearance on the interior with a refined palette of wood, metal and leather finishes. The new kitchen and patio additions take their cues from the existing building, but in simpler form and contrasting material; the charred wood shou sugi ban cladding is a nod to the wood-fired oven at the centre of the kitchen.
