The Lake Hefner Boathouse project takes the existing harbourmaster’s building and reinvents it as a hub for water sports and shore-side fitness activities. Ad hoc additions to the structure are stripped away to reveal a single large volume, opening up to the lake with large glazed doors. A large covered roof terrace and observation deck is served by a new bar and enjoys panoramic views over the lake. The existing facilities at the Hefner marina are expanded to include boat, kayak and SUP rental, bicycle rental, a food and merchandise concession, and meeting facilities. The building is rooted in the site with new landscaping, integrating the existing cycle trail, and providing a new active play space and pump track.
