This new 5-hectare educational campus, located in Tengah, Singapore, is for the United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA), part of the global UWC movement headquartered in London. Based on ten key masterplanning principles, our design for their new campus authentically reflects the College’s values and mission: ‘to make education a force to unite people, nations, and cultures for peace and a sustainable future’.
Developed in collaboration with BVN and RSP Architects, we saw the campus as a learning village that embraces principles of legibility, sustainability, and well-being to create a living, breathing community that will nurture belonging, holistic education, and a deep connection with nature.
Set in an interactive tropical landscape, the campus provides distinct primary, middle and high school buildings supported by a science centre, design technology hub, central library, and aquatics centre, (designed by BVN) as well as specialist learning centres for sports and the visual and performing arts (designed by AHMM collaborating with Specialist Theatre Consultants Charcoal Blue). The College is also home to 180 students who will live in AHMM-designed accommodation connected to the main campus by a bridge that winds through the new Tengah Park.
