MINIPLEX is a modular construction system designed by AHMM architect Vlad Tenu, consisting of multiples of a single type of component. The identical flat pieces are attached together to create modules, that can then be endlessly connected and re-combined, to create complex geometric structures.
Version 1.0 of MINIPLEX was supported and produced by AHMM for City Centre’s Youth Programme 2017, an educational initiative in collaboration with City Centre London.
Over the course of five workshops, a group of fifteen aspiring architects and engineers aged 14-19 were given the opportunity to learn about architecture, engineering and construction as well as develop their design skills.
Working with architects from AHMM, engineers from ARUP and contractors from Knight Harwood, the young people had the opportunity to design and build a pavilion using MINIPLEX that would be installed at Paternoster Square next to St. Paul’s Cathedral.
