Ummar joined AHMM in 2017 after studying in Cambridge and London and gaining experience in several award winning design-led practices in London.

Ummar was key member of the team of The Rowe, a refurbishment and extension of the former London Metropolitan School of Art, Architecture and Design to provide contemporary office space, working on it from the initial design stages through to taking responsibility for delivering the building to completion.

More recently, Ummar led a design team to successfully gain planning approval for Lisson Grove, a sustainability led development in Marylebone utilising structural timber. Similarly, he led on the early stages and planning and heritage for the refurbishment of the office floors, atrium and reception of the Grade II listed 40 Argyll Street. He is currently leading on the Phoenix Yard Masterplan a mixed-use development comprising office, educational and residential uses across four buildings in Birmingham City Centre

Ummar was made an Associate in 2025.
