Dr Craig Robertson directs AHMM’s strategic and detailed response to the climate crisis across our projects, operations and project-based research.

He leads the Building Performance Team, working closely with our architects throughout the design process to develop holistic environmental solutions. He also oversees reporting against our operational carbon reduction commitments and compliance obligations, including Science Based Targets and ISO 14001.

Before joining AHMM, Craig led education, commercial and housing projects before moving into academia. He completed his PhD at the UCL Energy Institute in 2014, researching the use of energy data feedback to inform building design decisions.

He continues to teach and undertake research with UCL, focusing on the challenges faced by AHMM and our clients. Recent research includes a KTP investigating net-zero carbon buildings, a PhD on the developing architecture of ‘smart’ buildings, and award-winning post-occupancy evaluation of AHMM’s Stirling Prize-winning Burntwood School.

In recognition of his research, Craig was appointed Honorary Professor of Building Performance in Architecture at the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources in 2026, has been a trustee of Architects Declare UK since 2022 and became Head of Sustainability at AHMM in 2016.
