Planning approval granted for Lansdowne House 11.11.20
Westminster City Council has granted planning approval to transform Lansdowne House, a landmark site on historic Berkeley Square’s southern end, with a new high-quality, sustainable commercial building targeting BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum.
Led by developer CO—RE, the proposals for the redevelopment will provide modern office and retail space and reconnect the building to the historic square through significant improvements to the surrounding public realm.
The new ten-storey building will include 225,000 sq ft of premium office space with 14,000 sq ft of retail and restaurants at the ground floor. The public realm around the site will be improved and reconnected to Berkeley Square with revitalised pedestrianised areas and more public space.
The planning approval follows two years of consultation and conversations with the local authority, key stakeholder groups and nearby residents, including a public exhibition visited by over 200 people from the local area. Construction is expected to start in the second half of 2022 and finish in 2026.
