Derelict for some years, the British Rail Maintenance Depot, Paddington, is an enigmatic modernist icon designed in 1968 by architects Bicknell and Hamilton. Located a few metres from a major elevated motorway, its exterior has been repaired and cleaned. The interior has been re-worked very carefully to provide space and environmental controls appropriate for the day to day operations of a big company and in
a way which recharges the building’s purpose.
