TEA BUILDING

Tea Building
  • Completion: 2004
  • Cost: £6 million
  • Client: Derwent London Plc
  • Awards:
  • AIA Award for Interior Architecture 2006
This refurbishment of a group of early twentieth century warehouses on the edge of the City created 14,600 sq m of studio office space. The design strategy was to create high-style and high quality public spaces and then to do as little as was necessary, allowing the creative and media tenants on inexpensive short leases (clients such as Mother Advertising Agency, Jason Bruges Studio Ltd, A Models Ltd, Tomato Films Ltd, National Film & Television School Ltd, Film London Ltd, Blackdog Publishing Ltd, The Prince’s Drawing School, Soho House Ltd, Hales Gallery Ltd, Andrew Mummery Gallery Ltd and Stephen Archer Architects LLP) to take advantage of the possibilities which the tough industrial spaces offered.
