The first stage in the masterplan for the town centre of London Borough, Barking, provides 200 flats in two new parallel blocks. They are built above the refurbished library which is to become a child and adult education facility fronted by a new public square designed by Muf. Its roof is the shared private garden between the blocks. Elevations have a distinctive aluminium skin with coloured glass mosaic balconies that suggest the varying programme.
