This family house cascades down the hill looking north over the Bristol Channel and out to Wales. A private path rises from a rocky promontory up to the house and emerges within the building as a staircase defining a broken sequence of inter-related spaces which refer to nearby Wells Cathedral. Four levels of accommodation, all garnering different views and capturing the north and west light, are topped by the swimming pool. The succeeding planes of inhabited green roofs merge with the gardens and define outdoor terraces. The windows are recessed dark fissures that refer to the rocky promontory that the client observes whilst out canoeing.
