AHMM to design the Design Council/CABE’s new offices

AHMM has been chosen by the Design Council/CABE to design the fit-out for their new 1,000m2 office space in the Angel Building, following a competition run by the influential design watchdog.

Director, Simon Allford commented in The Architect’s Journal: ‘We are delighted to be working with the Design Council CABE on their move to the Angel Building. Having designed the building and all the public areas it is good to have the opportunity to work with an ambitious and inventive client on their own offices.’

The Design Council chose the Stirling Prize shortlisted office development for its high sustainability credentials including an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating. Angel Building is the re-invention of an early 80’s commercial building. Using the existing concrete frame resulted in immense CO2 savings by avoiding demolition and disposal. Lifts recycle energy as they descend, the heating system produces 44% less carbon emissions than traditional systems, lighting responds to levels of daylight and occupancy, rainwater is collected to flush the toilets and urinals are waterless.
