NIC CRAWLEY

Nic Crawley
NIC CRAWLEY WAS BORN IN 1976 AND EDUCATED AT DE MONTFORT UNIVERSITY, THE UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL AND THE CENTRE FOR ALTERNATIVE TECHNOLOGY.

Nic previously worked for a number of practices in the north of England, gaining experience of housing, hotel, commercial, leisure and school design.
Since joining AHMM in 2003, he has worked as Senior Architect and Project Architect on a broad range of residential and commercial projects as well as healthcare design and planning. Projects have included new build and refurbishment projects at varying scales, such as Sunshine House, Bond Street House, 160 Tooley Street, Nottingdale Village, City Road, Union Square and Weston Street

Nic was promoted to Associate in 2008 and in addition to running a number of projects, has recently been made the practice’s Head of Sustainability. This new role is designed to bring greater focus and leadership to the practice’s continued research and development in this important area. Responsibilities include assessing and contributing to projects from the earliest stages as well as developing and maintaining a clearly defined sustainability policy which complements established practices and project procedures.

In support of this role as Head of Sustainability, Nic is currently completing an MSc in Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies at the Centre for Alternative Technology and also enjoys occasional work as a visiting design tutor on a post graduate architecture course.
Beyond low energy, climate sensitive environmental design, Nic’s interests include fire engineering, property development and how people enjoy and use our buildings and cities.
